Testing the website in the Lynx browser

Post by Jacob »

This post was created in the text only browser Lynx.

The homepage has two issues in Lynx:
1. The search does not work. (It currently uses the DuckDuckGo search engine. So you just have to add site:deltafoxdesign.com to the search.)
2. It tells you that the menu does not work even though it does. (This is because it thinks you are using a smartphone with JavaScript disabled, and the menu requires JavaScript to open.)

Another issue in Lynx is that the forum does not pop up the cookie notice. However Lynx automatically notifies you about cookies and asks you if you want to accept them.

Other then that the site seam to work fine in Lynx. Some advanced features will not work in Lynx though though.

Highly discourage anyone from using Lynx to upload and edit posts, or if you do create your post in a text editor first and past it in. It is way to easy to accidentally exit out of the editing post page when using Lynx.

Doing a Hard Refresh

The setting to change the Delta Fox Design home page menu style does work in Lynx but you have to hard refresh the home page with x. This is because it uses something called a cache to store the page locally so it does not have to get the page from the internet every time you visit it. (Note: The main change you will see is that the "Your JavaScript is disabled..." message will disappear.) Basically all browsers use a cache. To do a hard refresh in Firefox, Chrome or Edge it's ctrl+shift+R or ctrl+F5. IE is ctrl+F5 See How to do a hard refresh in Chrome, Firefox and IE? and How to do a Hard Refresh In Microsoft Edge

SOME USEFUL Lynx COMMANDS:
k - shows list of commands.

x - hard refresh (reload page w/o cache)
Ctrl+x show the cache (use the link with the title to clear that page from cache) See this post

ctrl+k - shows your cookies
